Shockwave Therapy

Good Sexual Energy

Shockwave therapy, also known as wave, pulse wave, or acoustic wave therapy, is a non-invasive treatment to improve erectile function.  Dr. Bowen has been offering this treatment, and teaching other physicians to perform this treatment, for over a decade.

For this procedure, the shockwave device is placed in 6 strategic spots to improve the blood flow in the arteries leading to the penis and in the penis itself.  This treatment also improves the function of the nerves. Both of these factors are critical in maximizing erectile firmness.

The prescription of shockwave treatment is customized to the individual. For example, 3 treatments might be prescribed for a 35-year-old patient who has erections sufficient for satisfactory sex but is looking to reproduce the erections he had at 25.  A course of 12 treatments might be appropriate for a patient who is 75 with several medical problems like hypertension, diabetes or a history of prostate cancer.  Most men will fall somewhere in between.

The treatment is administered once a week and takes about 20 minutes. It is also useful for patients with a curve in the erect penis, also referred to as Peyronie’s disease.  Shockwave treatment can be combined with the Priapus Shot® or the Caverstem® procedure for even more dramatic effect.
