April is Rosacea Awareness Month

Rosacea is a chronic skin disorder that can result in sensitivity, flushing, redness, broken capillaries, and breakouts.

A few of the most common triggers of rosacea are:

  • Alcohol

  • Spicy foods

  • Exercise

  • Stress

  • Sun exposure

…and more.

There are 4 subtypes of Rosacea.

  1. Facial Redness

  2. Bumps and Pimples

  3. Skin Thickening

  4. Eye irritation

Our office usually sees types 1 and 2, which we treat with lasers or light, and topical skincare designed to suppress the mechanism that causes the redness of rosacea.

Broad Band Light (BBL) and The Rejuvenating & Tightening Laser Facial are two of our most popular treatments for the redness of rosacea. There is no downtime with either procedure. (See actual patient before/after photos). Results can be maintained with topical lotions or serums with ingredients like Niacinimide, Ginger Root Extract, Bisabolol, and Vitamin E to calm inflammation, and by avoiding the triggers.
