MEN'S SEXUAL WELLNESS

Unfortunately, many men are reluctant to report erectile dysfunction (ED) to their partner, or physician, due to social stigmas associated with bedroom performance. ED, or the inability to maintain an erection, is much more common than the general population may realize and has a lot to do with men’s health. A Johns Hopkins study revealed that over 18 million men in the U.S. over the age of 20 experience difficulties having and maintaining an erection.

Signs & Symptoms:

Erectile Dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is a type of male sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to maintain an erection long enough and firm enough for sexual intercourse.

While most men will have occasional difficulty achieving a healthy erection during sexual intercourse, ED is only considered a possible medical explanation for these symptoms if erection difficulties have been affecting a man for an extended period of time. When blood flow to the two chambers of the penis, known as the corpora cavernosa, are blocked or restricted for any reason, this can result in ED.

In Dr. Bowen’s regenerative medicine practice, there are FOUR treatment options offered to help treat Erectile Dysfunction:

1.  CAVERSTEM

2.  GAINSWAVE TREATMENT

3.  THE PRIAPUS SHOT® – “P Shot”®

4.  TRT – TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY

Dr. Bowen uses the consultation with his ED patients to understand the severity of symptoms and severity of impacts the ED is having on a male patient’s life.  He will then prescribe a treatment plan that may contain MORE THAN ONE of the abovementioned treatments.

CaverStem®

CaverStem® is the only patented procedure using FDA-approved equipment performed by a licensed physician that provides a safe, effective, solution to treat erectile dysfunction.

  • Drug-free
  • Safe & effective
  • Simple in-office procedure
  • 80%+ success rate

  • No side effects

GAINSWave

GAINSWave® is a revolutionary male sexual performance procedure that uses low-intensity sound waves (also referred to as acoustic wave therapy) to improve sexual function in men, even if they suffer from a medical condition such as Erectile Dysfunction (ED) or Peyronie’s disease (curved penis).

GAINSWave utilizes high frequency, low-intensity sound waves to improve blood flow to the penis, remove micro-plaque, and stimulate the growth of new blood vessels. GAINSWave uses a specific protocol designed to optimize efficacy, safety and results.

The GAINSWave procedure breaks up plaque formation in blood vessels and stimulates the growth of new blood vessels in the penis. This increases the blood flow to the penis and improves sexual function. In addition, the GAINSWave procedure activates the growth of new nerve tissue in the penis.

This process, called neurogenesis, enhances sensitivity in the penis. Because GAINSWave uses low-intensity sound waves and is non-invasive, it is often referred to as Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (LI-ESWT).

In 6 to 12 sessions each taking between 15 to 20 minutes, GAINSWave treatments:

  • Stimulate the release of growth factors in penile tissue, resulting in the generation of new blood vessels
  • Break up plaque formation in existing blood vessels
  • Activate dormant stem cells, leading to new cell growth

By increasing blood flow to the penis, men will have stronger, harder and more sustainable erections.

P-shot®

Named after the Greek god of virility, the Priapus Shot® is a non-surgical, in office procedure that involves injecting platelet-rich growth factors (GFs) from your own blood into the penis, utilizing topical anesthesia and a tiny needle.  The goal of treatment is to improve blood flow to the penis for firmer erections.

Your blood contains white and red blood cells as well as platelets (also called thrombocytes), which contain growth factors that are essential for healing and tissue growth processes. Isolating this platelet rich plasma and injecting it into the body stimulates cell production, repairs and rejuvenates the tissues and even creates new blood vessels.

The Priapus Shot procedure was developed by Dr. Charles Runels, a physician based in Fairhope, Alabama.  In addition, Dr. Runels the Vampire Facelift®, Vampire Facial®  and the O Shot® for women.

Certified providers of the P Shot (Dr. Bowen is one) learn a specific protocol intended to ensure optimum patient selection and education.  It is also designed to ensure  proper PRP extraction, anesthesia, and injection technique. The protocol also recommends daily use of a penis pump (more on that below), aerobic exercise, and complementary medication, all in support of improved outcomes.

  • It can improve blood flow to the penis, for stronger, longer-lasting erections.
  • Better erections can boost self-esteem and confidence, leading to a more satisfying sex life.
  • There’s no downtime afterward.
  • Initial results start to show up at about two weeks after the procedure, sometimes sooner, sometimes a bit later.
  • It can enhance the length and girth of the penis.  (The P Shot is not offered to our patients on that basis, however.)
  • It’s a drug-free alternative to many leading erectile dysfunction treatments (like Viagra), and it can reportedly enhance the effects of Cialis or Trimix.
  • Because the growth factors are derived from your own blood, there’s no risk of allergic reactions.
In Dr. Bowen’s practice, P Shot patients are required to purchase a specific model Penis Pump (available for purchase) for use on the day o their P Shot.  Dr. Bowen will also prescribe a protocol for its daily use after your P Shot.  As said, you may purchase a pump from our office or can make arrangements to purchase it on your own in advance of your P Shot appointment.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a widely used treatment for men with symptomatic hypogonadism. The benefits seen with TRT, such as increased libido and energy level, beneficial effects on bone density, strength, and muscle as well as cardioprotective effects, have been well-documented.
